About the house

22 is a traditional gritstone mid-terrace house set back from the road and with views over Matlock.  It has a small front porch, living room, dining room and kitchen on the ground floor and two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor.  It has recently been completely renovated – including installing gas central heating, replacing the roof and fitting a new kitchen and bathroom – during which many original features were re-discovered and restored.

The living room has a wood burner, television with freesat and Chromecast and a selection of books, board games and jigsaws.  The sofa converts to a double bed if required.  There are maps, guide books and ring-binders containing suggestions for walks, outings and places to eat, together with leaflets and timetables for local attractions.  Wifi is available throughout the house.

The dining room has an original stone fireplace plus dining table with 4 chairs.  There is a church pew if extra seating is needed and a large cupboard containing extra crockery, glasses etc.

The kitchen has an electric oven/grill and gas hob, a microwave, toaster,  kettle, steamer and larder fridge (no ice box or freezer).  There  are enough pans, crockery, cutlery and utensils for up to 6 people.

There are 2 bedrooms.  The main bedroom at the front of the house is a double bedroom with fantastic views towards Riber Castle, Matlock and the Heights of Abraham.  The second bedroom has a small (4′) double bed and looks out over the back garden. A cot is available if needed (although you may need to assemble this yourself – instructions are provided!).

The bathroom has a bath with overhead shower.  The washing machine is also located in the bathroom.

Parking is available on the street outside the house or close by. The road outside the house is very narrow and you may to need to reverse up it to park closest to the house.  The house has small front and back gardens.

Please note that access to the house is up several stone steps from the road and the back garden is also accessed via steps.  The internal stairs are quite steep and there are 3 steps down to the bathroom.
